Overview

Restoran Darussalam Subang Jaya stands as a notable destination for Indian Muslim cuisine in the heart of Subang Jaya, Selangor. Situated on the ground floors of Jalan SS 15/8b, this restaurant offers a blend of traditional Mamak flavors with a modern touch, making it a favored spot for locals and visitors seeking authentic Malaysian-Indian fare.

The restaurant’s standout dish remains the Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng. Unlike the typical rice used in most nasi lemak servings, Darussalam opts for basmati rice. While this choice brings a unique texture and subtle aroma, some patrons have noted it is less fragrant than the classic pandan-infused variety. Accompanied by a crispy fried chicken that retains juiciness, the dish features a sambal with a balanced sweetness and heat, crunchy ikan bilis, fresh cucumber slices, and a creamy sunny-side-up egg. This combination underscores the restaurant's commitment to maintaining classic flavors while allowing subtle innovations.

Beyond nasi lemak, the menu hosts a variety of Mamak classics such as Kuew Teow Goreng Mamak, rich with spicy Malaysian notes, and the Maggi O Double, ideal for customers craving a more filling meal. For those seeking a hearty rice option, the Chicken Biryani and Nasi Briyani offer fragrant and well-spiced alternatives, often accompanied by traditional sides like cheese naan and tandoori chicken, showcasing the restaurant’s breadth within Indian Muslim culinary traditions.

The space itself caters comfortably to dine-in guests, including an upstairs seating area with a pleasant view, creating an inviting atmosphere for a relaxed meal. The environment suits various patrons—from early morning breakfast seekers looking for roti telur and dhall, to night owls who appreciate the restaurant’s late hours and steadfast offerings like Indomie and fried chicken.

Drinks such as Teh O Limau and Sirap Limau Ais offer refreshing complements to the bold flavors on the plate, enhancing the overall dining experience. Whether stopping by for a quick lunch or a late-night bite, Restoran Darussalam remains a go-to choice for those who appreciate rich, flavorful Indian Muslim food crafted with care.

Customers appreciate the consistency of certain dishes, especially the ayam goreng, which is often described as crispy and succulent, although some note occasional variations in portion size or ingredient quality. The sambal’s flavor profile ranges from mildly sweet to pleasantly spicy, depending on the day, adding a dimension of variety to repeated visits.

In all, Restoran Darussalam Subang Jaya balances tradition and innovation, offering an authentic taste of Indian Muslim cuisine rooted in Malaysian street food culture. Its accessible location, diverse menu, and inviting setting make it a worthy addition to any food lover’s itinerary in Subang Jaya.

26/9/2025 This Nasi Lemak Ayam was previously viral in many social media, today finally here to try it. The rice tasted ok, using basmathi rice but not very fragrant. Sambal was good, not very sweet. As for the fried chicken, it's crispy and quite good. Maybe was expecting it to have more spices taste since they pressure fried it. But it was just ok. Overall this Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng is still good, comes with fried egg and lots ikan bilis. Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng 7/10 Rm11.50

I ordered Nasi Lemak with fried chicken and dine in at upstairs with good view. The chicken is fresh from the tray and the rice is basmathi which is unique for their Nasi Lemak. Will definitely come here again! (Visited date on 26 June)

6/5/25 3.30am. today very quiet. Staff clearing up. Nasi lemak ayam was smaller than usual today, only left drumstick. Still same price as from 2024 RM11.50 25/3/2025 3.20am and still loads of people here. Ikan bilis is now hard instead of light and crunchy but ayam goreng is still divine and served hot. Sambal has gotten spicier also. When it's past 2am, the best place to get a decent rice meal or Indomie Goreng is in Darulsallam. Been here for decades in various degrees of dirt, noise and ingrates. If you're smart, stick with nasi lemak. Surprisingly fluffy santan rich rice, generous amounts of crunchy deep fried anchovies, crispy cucumber and creamy centred sunny side up egg for RM5.50. The ayam goreng is good too. Sadly spaghetti Bolognese was cold soggy pasta that had the mouthfeel of bleh, like noodles soaked and forgotten in a bowl.of.lukewarm water. The sauce had minced meat but did not have any seasoning, no salt, no herbs, no pepper. Stick to the tried and tested. Indomie Double RM8.30 really IS just Indomie with the sauce packets added.
